Sanctions

The termination, reduction, suspension or withdrawal of a certification can occur due to a request of the client or due to a specific non-conformity or due to substantiated client bad conduct. In those cases, CTV analyse the situation and act accordingly. This actions may include:

  • Continuation of certification under certain conditions, for instance increased surveillance;

  • Reduction in the scope of certification to remove nonconforming product variants;

  • Suspension of the certification, while client solves the problem;

  • Withdrawal of the certification.

In case of suspension, the certification technician informs the client that the scope certificate is no longer valid and that he cannot continue to use the GOTS and Textile Exchange logo signs in the products, advertising material, etc.. The certification technician also informs what actions are needed to restore the certification as well as the timeline to do it.

If a scope certificate is suspended for 180 days or until its expiry, whichever is shorter, the scope certificate shall be withdrawn.

If the certification is reinstated after suspension, CTV makes the necessary modifications to formal certification documents, public information, authorizations for use of marks, etc., in order to ensure all appropriate indications exist that the product continues to be certified.

If a decision to reduce the scope of certification is made as a condition of reinstatement, CTV makes the necessary modifications to formal certification documents, public information, authorizations for use of marks, etc., in order to ensure that the reduced scope of certification is clearly communicated to the client and clearly specified in certification documentation and public information.

After a withdrawal of a certification, a new /audit is required for the certification return to the active status.

CTV does not issue transaction certificates relating to scope certificates which are suspended or withdrawn, regardless of when the product was sold, and take action in order to not permit a suspended organization to sell claimed materials or to use logos or labels of the certification schemes.

CTV informs the certification schemes managers (Global Standard gGmbH, to GOTS and Textile Exchange to OCS, GRS, RCS, RWS, RDS and CCS) about all the changes related with certified companies, including termination, reduction, suspension or withdrawal of certification. It also informs all direct clients who have received transaction certificates from a certified company during the previous 12 months when a scope certificate is suspended or withdrawn.
